Mickey L. Hawkins

Mickey Hawkins, a member of the Lyons High School Class of 1969, was killed in action in Vietnam on January 6, 1970. Included in the exhibit are the medals Hawkins was awarded for his service in the Marines, the letter of condolence from President Richard M. Nixon, a charcoal rubbing of his name from the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington D.C., and color photographs of him in Vietnam that he sent to his family. A memorial bench was dedicated to Mickey by the Class of 1969 last year and sits in front of the museum.
